Seems like I’m not the only one experiencing this issue with running a new ad on Google Adwords. Previously when I run an ad it would get approved in less than 5 minutes. Now it’s more than 24 hours and my ad is still not running. The ad is even a simple one, we just wanted to run an ad so we can quickly get feedback for a survey we are conducting.

Here is a link to other users affected by this “approval system” for new ads on Google.

http://www.google.de/support/forum/p/AdWords/thread?tid=2ca794df25bdd38f&hl=en

I wonder why Google is actively promoting Google Adwords, I even get emails for free 2K to start using the ad system and I see banners everywhere, but they are soo missing a lot more potential clients on the delay on their approval system.

It’s almost close to 48 hours. I hope Google sees there is a big issue with their ad approval system.

Adding a friend’s calendar – It’s much easier now: you simply start typing a name in the “Add a friend’s calendar” box and we’ll match against your address book. Click the name, and the calendar will be added. Previously you had so many steps to take to do this.

Dragging to create new events – New “gutter” feature for dragging into a cluttered events list. Small improvement but beneficial.

Flexible reminder times – Now you can have a reminder schedule up to the last minute.

Definitely a big ups to the Google Team for these improvements.

Last July, a new product from Google named Knol similar to Wikipedia was launched, a social content sharing network. The criteria for articles and to be an editor is more tougher than in Wikipedia but you can expect great content. You can also earn online in Knol for you can put Adsense on the articles posted, similar to how you do it with blogspot. The more traffic your article generates the more possibility of earning through clicks on ads. Knol has already gotten alot of backlinks, new and likely to be a hit.

Also new on the block is startup search engine Cuil (pronounced “Cool”). Searches more pages 3 times more than Google and 10 times more than Microsoft as they say. But my blog page hasn’t been crawled yet after having it submitted to be crawled likely because of the amount of submission they got. Well lets see how it goes.

After two months from launching my blog, Google gave me Page Rank 2, sweet! I managed to have an increase in site traffic with some starter blog post and getting linked in high traffic sites, my starter posts were pretty simple and were just to get my feet wet on blogging.

Increase in site traffic and having a high Page Rank or PR are almost synonymous. You need to do some SEO to build traffic to your site, one method of doing is to have incoming links, when you have incoming links from a site with high PR, there is portion of PR that gets relayed to your site, depending on how many outgoing links that site has, there is the portion relayed to you which is computed to build your Page Rank. Page Rank algorithm is always talked about and there are dozens of theories on it for it is constantly being changed and improved. Some say if you have high traffic on your site already you don’t need to have a high Page Rank. I found this great indepth article outlining Google’s Page Rank.

Google Pagerank what do we really know about it

With the new PR ranking I recently got, time to get my feet wet again by moving on the next experiment, alot of people started blogging to earn online or make money online. I’m targeting revenues from Adsense served on the site. Serving relevant ads on your site and same time having quality posts relevant to those high paying keywords is still a science to me and a work in progress. That would be my next attempt, write quality post relevant to Adsense keywords. There are a lot of online tools to find relevant keywords to blog, for one there is Keyword Tool External from Google which replaced Google Sandbox. There are dozens of tips and techniques, but the real tip is to experiment on one method, analyze and then try another method till you get successful results. You won’t know what works until you try but stick to the Adsense policy so you won’t get blacklisted.
