Welcome August, time really flies so fast. I’m setting a couple of goals to complete before August ends to get things crossed out from my 2011 Todo List.

I’ve been doing alot of reading and studying on iOS for almost 5 months and need to really get something off the shelf so to speak. For my first application I got some ideas from my wife who owns a preschool. This would be an educational app for preschool kids. I’ll be leveraging a little bit of salesforce.com on the app.

Also I’ve been a certified Force.com certified developer since last year November 2010. Time to prep up my skills and move to bigger and tastier things like getting the Force.com Advanced Developer exam, this focuses more on the programmatic side of building apps using Force.com.

So looking forward to cracking the shell this August.

Wow another long hiatus from blogging, everything seems to move so fast when your busy. Just dropping a new post to remind me to keep this blog alive. Here are rants on some projects I have been busy with. I’ve been into cloud computing since company shifted from PHP/MySQL to Salesforce.com and have been very busy with projects. We have a GITEX conference that we are a member and we need to wrap up a SF application. Plus I get to retry that damn elusive certification this November again. I really need to get that certification done with. Arrgh.. So much to learn, so much to do yet so little time that I sometimes feel down. But I shouldn’t let this put me down. I got to be consistent and be the best at what I do.

Another thing bothering me is that I finally got to move out of my inlaws house and now renting a small apartment. I can’t afford a house yet so we are renting. I’m been trying to budget how I can afford to get a new house by next year with all financial strains on our budget. I need to resurrect our savings. Anyway just ranting this out to get it out of my system, good thing I have a blog to write this stuffs about. Now I feel motivated to continue. Thanks for reading.

With my line of work I need consistent internet connection. My Comclark cable plan of 512kbps has been disappointing lately and worst instead of the trend of plans/bandwidth to get cheaper, Comclark thinks otherwise their 512Kbps plan is now 1350 pesos for new subscribers while old subscribers are retained to 888 pesos a month. Their 1mb plan is tagged ridiculously on 4000 pesos a month.

So I shopped around for a new ISP. Here in Angeles, Pampanga my options in priority are PLDT DSL, Globe Broadband and Digitel. I already tried Smartbro a couple of years ago and I discontinued their service, it was unbearable before and their customer service is almost none existent though it has been almost 2 years, I still wouldn’t risk it even if they say they have better service now.

PLDT though on the other hand is loosing alot of potential customers in our area for they always have full slots. So I opted for the next option which is Globelines for 995 pesos a month you get 1MB. I subscribed a couple of days ago, processing is 5-7 days and hopefully I would be connected by next week, plus there is a seems to be an existing promo unannounced wherein you save 200 pesos from the 1mb you only pay 795 for a month, don’t know when the promo will end but its limited time.

Now I’m thinking if I should drop my comclark plan or just keep it for backup. I already have Globe Tattoo prepaid when there is no free wifi when not at home as I can use that for backup too.

Decided to blog about this to get it off my chest. I know most freelancers occasionally encounter this sometime in their career. Since last month I have been struggling to get tasks done. I felt overwhelmed with the tasks to do, I felt tired to start working on a project. I was holding off work till I felt better. Was I just feeling lazy and procastinating? Turns out it was more I was suffering from a mild depression, there was a sense of hopelessness on the direction I was going. As 2009 was approaching I was evaluating my status, what have I accomplished so far, then there is the part of envy or jealousy from my peers, which are all almost abroad now working with a better salary than I am, but the drawback is they are away from their loved ones. I contemplated as well on the scenario of leaving the country and look for better salary.

Freelancing was slow after I resigned from my government work middle of last year. I had to take on a client for a regular job for a monthly pay. I was not after a big salary but just the steady flow of cash in case I didnt get any freelance work for the month. At first it turned out well but I was seeing a pattern of struggling with the load of work. I was working for 2 regular home based jobs and taking on freelance work. Working almost 16 hours a day and finding some time to blog as well for personal business ideas and growth. Now Im evaluating, I would like to just take on one regular job then focus the rest of hours on working freelance instead of working daily for others. This may put off some clients but I’m just being honest, sometimes just to get a freelance project I have to put on a facade that you can take on their project when I’m already loaded with tasks to do for my daily home based clients.

I want to be an entreprenuer but I can’t seem to get it off. Most of the verbage I have been using is “can’t” instead of can. My reason is the hours I work for my daily clients is eating up too much of my time and I feel I’m in a vicious trap. I would not be able to manage my time to push starting my own business and start working for myself instead of others. Times are tough and I made a decision. Early this month I have to let go of one of my regular home base client for I was causing too much delay on the project. There is still some hanging work that I need to finish to get off a good start. I took a long break from the online world and that felt good now I’m feeling a little better, I want to get back to the online scene and start working for myself which is my ultimate goal. I have laid out some online business plans that I would like to pursue, an ecommerce website, earn extra money from blogging and get freelance projects. Which I feel is more manageable and healthy.
