Windows 7 launches November 7 in the Phillipines

I haven’t been able to test out the early leaked release of Windows 7 but I’m hearing alot of positive feedback that it is super fast and leaves Vista it’s predecessor in the dust.

Official launch of Windows 7 would be held at SM North CyberZone.

Check out the Philippine Official Site for Windows 7 for all the need to know information.

Microsoft and Yahoo seals the web deal for 10 years

Microsoft and Yahoo! finally closed their web deal which will make Microsoft’s Bing the algorithm to power the Yahoo! search engine. The long rumor is now over and the deal is set for 10 years. This positions both companies to target the search king Google. Yahoo! last year was on a brink of being bought by Microsoft but with this new deal no takeover is happening. Yahoo is next to ranking on search from Google, by Microsoft tying a deal with Yahoo it brings them much closer to Google.

Yahoo will keep 88% of the ad revenues for the first 5 years and have rights to sell ads as well on some Microsoft sites and brands.

CTRL + W on Firefox

Found a irritating bug on Firefox, while studying Flex I made Firefox my default browser. So when I run my application it loads on Firefox. But it seems like for sites rendered in flash, the keyboard shortcut CTRL + W for closing tabs doesn’t work. File – Close Tab menu though works. So I have to manually x out to close the tab. Would be great if this bug was solved specially for Flex developers using Firefox.

More on this bug here.

*Update* With FireFox 3.5 this bug has been addressed. With full flash sites or flash content currently focused you can hit CTRL + W and the tab closes. Yey!
