ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock’ (2) If this is a fresh server, start the mysql by # service mysqld start I encountered the error on another VPS and thought would give the solution how I fixed it there.
